A Milestone Forged of Five Hundred

Greetings folks and welcome again.

I know it has been a little while since I came to you with my fictions of fantasy and musings born of causality, pens and papers all cluttered amongst the candlelight, ready to forge my reverie anew. But like a wondering wave in the ocean water, I’ll always come back ashore, eventually.

Bloody hell, that ended up being a little more melodramatic than I intended. Oh well, sod it! I think you can tell I’ve had a few days away. My inner muse is getting it all out of our system in a great, big splurge of creative word slush. Truthfully, I’ve been a little under the weather lately. I’ve still managed to get to work and back but the process has left me a little drained to do much else. Its nothing too problematic though. Last I checked I still had all of my appendages intact, I think. Hold on a second…..

*Wanders off to the bathroom to make sure nothing fell off during the night!*

All good. Just a few beard hairs gone astray. It looks like some of those growing on the left side of my face are desperately trying to escape, the ungrateful, gravity defying buggers. Anyway, my faculties are returning to some degree of normality now, if ‘normality’ is or has ever been the right term to describe my faculties, and I would like to address something rather good that happened recently.

Whilst sifting through the many wonderful works made by you good people in our community I happened to notice that a new milestone has been surpassed here at the Forge. I know the numbers relating to our statistics are relatively unimportant in the grand scheme of it all but every so often, they do tell their own tale. As of the last couple of weeks, WordPress follower number 500 granted me the privilege of allowing me to attain that little notification, the one that offered some semblance of acknowledgement and congratulations.  An appreciation inspiring acknowledgement that, little by little, you good folks are joining me as I continue with my writing and my work toward my overarching projects.

To all of you who have joined me over the last year and some, whether from the beginning or just recently, I offer you my heartfelt gratitude once again. I doubt I’ll ever reach monumental numbers of followers in the tens of thousands but I am not too fussed about it if I’m honest. I’ve achieved something I already consider to be significant by gaining the recognition and support that many of you have offered up to this point and if I ever come to feel that isn’t good enough, then I hope I one day come to possess the ability to reach forward in time from this hour to give future me a mighty slap in the face. Or the groin if he pisses me off enough!

One of the last times I reached a milestone, a few months back now, I commemorated the event by doing my first Q & A post where you guys submitted some questions to me that I could answer to the best of my ability. And I did so as you can find out below.

Letters Forged from Curious Thoughts

Well, I thought we’d give it another go, only this time with a bit of twist to the context of it all. Since that day I have offered various excerpts and segments of my work relating to my world of fantasy that is Ayl’gard, and many of you have been good enough to read, absorb and engage me in conversation about what I written here and brought to the Forge. There is a fair amount available so far but there is also so much written down and rattling around in my mind that I have yet to bring out of the shadows and into the candlelight.

So to celebrate this little achievement, I would humbly ask you to join me in conversation once again as I aim to do my second Q & A for the Forge. If any of you have any questions or have ever wanted to know a particular something, anything about the world of Ayl’gard and all that it entails, then this is your opportunity. If this is the case, please post your questions in the comments below, or send me a message if you wish, and I shall endeavour to respond to each of them in next posting I provide. Feel free to ask me whatever you like and as many questions as you like. For those of you finding me and my realms of fantasy fiction for the first time and would like to know what in the bloody hollow (reference!) I am prattling on about, then you can discover for yourself on the following page.

The Realms of Ayl’gard

Cheers and thank you again kind folks and followers for joining me here this day and in days past. I shall raise my glass to you all. Well, mug. I’m drinking tea right now. HURRAH!

A Year In Reverie

Greetings folks and welcome back to the Forge. It’s anniversary time!

Today is a day that, not too long ago, I hadn’t envisioned in the slightest and yet here we are. The 28th of this calendar March marks the passing of one whole year since I wrote my first words for the Forge and it has been quite the journey. This here small piece of digital documentation that I have the honour of referring to as my own has undergone some changes since it all began, many I would consider for the better. More significantly, the ability to write, post and gradually bring my works and ideas to these pages has increased both my proficiency with the craft and my understanding of our community and the prospects that a potential future author may have. All good things.

If you wish to check out my first short introductory passage from way back at the beginning, then you can do so below. It was short, sweet and to the point. Like a chocolate bar – with words!

A New Venture

To celebrate the turning of this significant page in the history of Forged From Reverie, I have decided to solidify my gratitude to you good folks in the form of some peculiar, yet remarkably appropriate fantasy permanence. As some of my regulars are already aware of, a large portion of this site is devoted to my personal works of fantasy fiction regarding my own world of Ayl’gard, amongst other subjects. To say I am grateful for the support that I have received over the last year would be putting it very lightly. I am now, and will ever continue to be, greatly humbled and thankful to every one of you who take the time to notice, read, like and comment about each and every post that I create.

Thank you most wholeheartedly you wonderful people.

Even then though, there are a few of you who would fall into an additionally exceptional category of your own. Some of you have done, and continue to, support me and my work with a degree of consistency that makes me smile every time one of you responds to my work in the magnificent ways that you do. You are my supporters, my well wishers, my champions.

And so with this in mind, I hereby announce that I shall be creating something dedicated to showing my appreciation for you in a way that incorporates my works and encapsulates the fantasy theme of the Forge. Mere days from now I will be launching the Guild page that will list those most dedicated amongst you who have truly made me realise this venture is worthwhile. In essence, you shall be given an honorary home and identity within the realm of Ayl’gard along with a link to your work/site if applicable. Basically, it will be a fancy as all buggery ‘Thank You’ page mixed with a theme of fantasy character creation.

For those newcomers reading any of this for the first time who might be curious about my works of fantasy fiction, you can find all you need to know in the page below.

The Realms of Ayl’gard

The Guild page will launch soon with the first wave of ‘citizens’ to be inducted. As time progresses I will continue to add to this list of champions to show my gratitude to others who may have the inclination to discover and appreciate my work in the future.

Just a quick note to mention that this doesn’t mean I will be using your name and likeness for my own benefit by any means, nor shall I be writing you into the actual fiction of this or any associated project. Sorry to disappoint if this was your hope, haha! The Guild page simply represents a fun way for me to incorporate my feelings of gratitude into the very foundations of this site.

So, please join me by raising your (purely fictitious – unless you actually have one nearby) cups of wine and flagons of ale as we drink to what will hopefully be another fantastic year at Forged From Reverie.

I’ll get the next round of Ardenean Elderberry Ales in, unless you’d prefer some wine from the vineyards of Wintermere? Fancy stuff that. Or maybe some Gammy-gut Grog? That’s a little less fancy. Your choice folks, I’ve dropped a bag of silver crowns on the counter and I’m in a celebratory mood.

A Forge Reborn

Greetings once again folks and welcome back. It is my proud privilege to introduce to you the new brand new look of my forum of fantasy, Forged From Reverie.

Recently I have been pondering about the aesthetics and the overall appearance of this site and how I bring my work to you good people and it occurred to me that I was not entirely satisfied with just how my work was being presented. I shall not ruminate too much on the negatives involved with such an epiphany, I’ll instead focus on the positive aspects that have emerged as a result of this change.

I’m not a particularly great artist, my photography skills are severely lacking and my abilities to produce any level of quality video content are almost non existent. I can make a damned fine cup of tea though, so there’s that! I am a writer, first and foremost. So the primary goal of this site is to bring to you my written fictions of fantasy as well as my insights into fantasy gaming and my general thoughts and musings regarding life, and aspects of my own life, in general. It should therefore be obvious that this is what I would like to be the focus of the Forge and yet I began to feel that this aspect was not being fully realised to it greatest potential.

Presentation people, its important apparently.

With the redesign comes a renewed focus on putting my writing front and centre. The imagery, links and any additional content that accompanies each post shall now be presented as exactly that – an accompaniment that will hopefully not detract from my works. My intentions are to have a simplified, more elegant presentation that provides me with what I feel is an appropriate forum with which to continue to bring you my writings and ramblings in a manner that removes the faff and focuses on the fiction, thoughts and fantasy.

That’s right guys, Forged From Reverie now comes with 30% less faffing about! For my non English readers, I now heartily apologise if you are now having to google the word ‘faff’.

The content that already exists here shall mostly remain intact, though I have already removed some older posts that I have deemed superfluous and very unnecessary. Oh hindsight, what a frustrating and oddly helpful chap you can be at times! I wonder what he’ll be telling me to do this time next year. A new category entitled ‘The Baffling Banality of Baked Beans and How Best to Better Them’ perhaps? Maybe though, only time will tell.

With all that in mind then I do hope you like what you see and more importantly I also hope that you continue to enjoy what you read. Feel free to let me know if you prefer this new layout or if I have well and truly buggered up my website. And sorry again if you’re now looking up the word ‘buggered’. I love this language!

Thank you again for continued support.
