A Year In Reverie

Greetings folks and welcome back to the Forge. It’s anniversary time!

Today is a day that, not too long ago, I hadn’t envisioned in the slightest and yet here we are. The 28th of this calendar March marks the passing of one whole year since I wrote my first words for the Forge and it has been quite the journey. This here small piece of digital documentation that I have the honour of referring to as my own has undergone some changes since it all began, many I would consider for the better. More significantly, the ability to write, post and gradually bring my works and ideas to these pages has increased both my proficiency with the craft and my understanding of our community and the prospects that a potential future author may have. All good things.

If you wish to check out my first short introductory passage from way back at the beginning, then you can do so below. It was short, sweet and to the point. Like a chocolate bar – with words!

A New Venture

To celebrate the turning of this significant page in the history of Forged From Reverie, I have decided to solidify my gratitude to you good folks in the form of some peculiar, yet remarkably appropriate fantasy permanence. As some of my regulars are already aware of, a large portion of this site is devoted to my personal works of fantasy fiction regarding my own world of Ayl’gard, amongst other subjects. To say I am grateful for the support that I have received over the last year would be putting it very lightly. I am now, and will ever continue to be, greatly humbled and thankful to every one of you who take the time to notice, read, like and comment about each and every post that I create.

Thank you most wholeheartedly you wonderful people.

Even then though, there are a few of you who would fall into an additionally exceptional category of your own. Some of you have done, and continue to, support me and my work with a degree of consistency that makes me smile every time one of you responds to my work in the magnificent ways that you do. You are my supporters, my well wishers, my champions.

And so with this in mind, I hereby announce that I shall be creating something dedicated to showing my appreciation for you in a way that incorporates my works and encapsulates the fantasy theme of the Forge. Mere days from now I will be launching the Guild page that will list those most dedicated amongst you who have truly made me realise this venture is worthwhile. In essence, you shall be given an honorary home and identity within the realm of Ayl’gard along with a link to your work/site if applicable. Basically, it will be a fancy as all buggery ‘Thank You’ page mixed with a theme of fantasy character creation.

For those newcomers reading any of this for the first time who might be curious about my works of fantasy fiction, you can find all you need to know in the page below.

The Realms of Ayl’gard

The Guild page will launch soon with the first wave of ‘citizens’ to be inducted. As time progresses I will continue to add to this list of champions to show my gratitude to others who may have the inclination to discover and appreciate my work in the future.

Just a quick note to mention that this doesn’t mean I will be using your name and likeness for my own benefit by any means, nor shall I be writing you into the actual fiction of this or any associated project. Sorry to disappoint if this was your hope, haha! The Guild page simply represents a fun way for me to incorporate my feelings of gratitude into the very foundations of this site.

So, please join me by raising your (purely fictitious – unless you actually have one nearby) cups of wine and flagons of ale as we drink to what will hopefully be another fantastic year at Forged From Reverie.

I’ll get the next round of Ardenean Elderberry Ales in, unless you’d prefer some wine from the vineyards of Wintermere? Fancy stuff that. Or maybe some Gammy-gut Grog? That’s a little less fancy. Your choice folks, I’ve dropped a bag of silver crowns on the counter and I’m in a celebratory mood.

Cheers!

      • Just say what I see.
I also heartily agree with what you said in this piece on community. Writers talking to writers about what we do, what we have a shared passion for. We’re all markedly different in out styles and subject matter, yet we’re all the ‘same’ when it comes to our love of the craft.
I’ve made friends, yourself among them, and feel part of a community on WordPress.

I love the idea of The Guild, too! Really cool. *Merrily raises a cup of wine to another wonderful year for Forged From Reverie and sneaks a flagon of ale onto the ground for Oghren!* πŸ˜›

    • *Clinks said cup with mug overflowing with odd scented ale in celebration and proceeds to watch little Oghren sniff furiously at the container on the floor*

Thank you once again my dear.
